It's been a decade since we've taken the ride down to the Butte and a lot has changed. New owners. New terrain. And our captains have put together a great three-day trip. We'll leave Cheyenne late Thursday afternoon, grab some grub along the way to our home for the weekend: the well-appointed and congenial Old Town Inn in the historic town of Crested Butte.
A short ride on our bus or the free local shuttle will take you to and from the mountain daily. From there, it's up to you. You can get as extreme as you like. Or not. The Nordic skiing center is a couple of blocks to the west of the Inn. A wealth of fine restaurants await you on the mountain and in the town. A market is nearby.
All rooms are double queens. Costs for this fun weekend range from about $200 for quad occupancy to $400 for a single room. This includes transportation, bus snacks, room. Lift ticket, if we put together a package of 20 people, are $89.44 for 2 days and $131.04 for all three. (There's a pesky little surcharge in there). No special deals for senior under the group program, and it's cheaper than the ticket window anyway.
Sign up for this trip at the first opportunity, which will be the December 6th meeting of the club.
